Disciple Ship (Part 2)

Mukuyu Village

Amon Being Baptized

Kenneth Being Baptized

Kenneth Baptizing A Sister In Christ

The first stop on Disciple Ship's six day journey was the small fishing village of Mukuyu. After securing Disciple Ship the team jumped into the smaller speed boat being towed behind and headed for the village. As we approached the village we were greeted by children squealing with excitement at the site of visitors. Our goal was to find two men that had been identified as potential leaders during a previous trip our hosts Bruce and Sue had conducted. It did not take long to find both Amon and Kenneth and to get debriefed on what God had been doing in their lives.

Kenneth's testimony was especially moving as he described how he had been tormented by an event where he had fallen off a fishing rig and survived despite being under the water for thirty five minutes. When he came to he found that his ordeal had caused his co-workers and boss to believe he had visited the ancestral spirits and was subsequently outcast from the community. These events had greatly disturbed Kenneth who believed he was cursed and destined to die. The team began to minister to Kenneth encouraging him that there is One that could bring him everlasting life and freedom from the fear that so tightly gripped his life. He said he was ready for that and requested to be baptized. As we prayed for him his whole countenance changed and his eyes seems to look straight through us. We watched as the demonic spirits that had tormented him for so long struggled to stay in control. He burped several times, something that is common when demons are being cast out of someone, and then seemed to come back to consciousness. We immediately described to the onlooking crowd what had transpired and detailed what would happening shortly as Kenneth was baptized. Words cannot describe the look on Kenneth's face as he came into the realization that his past was buried with Christ and a new life lay ahead as he came out of that croc infested water. Amon was also baptized as were two other young village girls who also decided to turn their lives over to the Father.

Later the same evening we showed the Jesus film and then briefly shared the Gospel. Several words of knowledge were shared and many responded and received prayers for deliverance from the darkness they had lived in for so many years. Pray for the villagers of Mukuyu and the work God is doing in separating for Himself a nation from the Tongas of Lake Kariba................more to come next time
