Friday morning Paul, Luke, Brent Roberts and Brent Svor went
to Terranova School on the neighboring coffee farm. As we have shared before we
are developing an agricultural program at this school based upon a discipleship
course from Foundations for Farming. The guys started by sharing some scripture
and then explained how to construct a compost heap. For most rural farmers
fertilizer is too expensive for utilization in their fields so compost
represents a natural and much more cost effective alternative in achieving
better harvests. The core of the lesson
was focused on realizing that God is the giver of good gifts………even compost.

First Aid Clinic
Leah and Karen put together a simple first aid demonstration
time Saturday morning for those in the village around us. They taught the people what to do if someone
is burned, bit by a snake, has a fever, has a concussion and how to clean and
care for a wound. There was a time of answering questions and they cleaned a
couple of wounds that needed attention.
Luke shared the gospel with the group and we had a great time of prayer

Visiting Chikankata Hospital
Karen, Leah and I drove 30 minutes up the very bumpy
Chikankata road to visit what used to be one of the most well known hospitals
in the area. Karen is a nurse and Leah is a Physician’s Assistant so they were
very interested to see what a hospital in the village might look like. The
Chikankata Mission Hospital has been run by the Salvation Army for the last 60
years. We had a great tour of the facilities and talked with the director Simon
Ledger. The ladies were very impressed! At the end of our visit we were able to
give the hospital many walkers and crutches that were donated to us and put on
our container. The hospital staff was so
thankful and appreciative!

A Land of Opportunity
It was on our visit to the village of Ngangula, that the Chiefteness let the men (Luke, Brent and Brent Svor) sit in on her meeting with the headmen of the area. They unanimously agreed on a particular piece of land to give us for our ministry center. The eldest headman then welcomed us to the area and told us that any trouble or problems we would encounter would also the village’s concern and responsibility to address. We walked the boundary of the land, which is roughly 50 acres, and we had a special time of prayer and dedicating our land to the Lord. We are now in the process of getting all the details in writing and securing the land with a fence! This is a huge answer pray and begins what will be a very busy next few months for our ministry.

A Day with the Chief!
Our first day with our friends was spent visiting the
Chiefteness and traveling with her to two villages for clothes distribution to widows
and vulnerable children. At the first
village Goma, many old widows asked for prayer and we saw many healed through
God’s power. Ladies with chest pain, kidney pain, hearing and other issues
experienced the Father’s love first hand. The second village was Ngangula. This
village is dear to Chiefteness heart because it is where her parents are
buried. We distributed clothes to a larger group and gave blankets to the
headmen in the area.Ngangula, as with many of the villages we visit, is in dire need of both physical and spiritual development amongst it people. It is estimated that the only well in this village is being utilized by 5000 people.

Visitors
This past week we had our dear friends from Texas, Paul and
Karen Staudacher and Brent and Leah Svor here in Zambia with us. It was fun to
have a taste of home here with us for 7 days! Despite the many power outages We
enjoyed showing them around Chikankata, doing ministry together, and spending
time with them as a family. We are so thankful for their partnership in
ministry and friendship!
